Bray Oklahoma Homes and Community

Bray, Oklahoma is a small town located in the upper North-Central edge of Stephens County. Real estate in Bray is a part of the Duncan Metropolitan Area, and it is located between Lake Fuqua and Clear Creek Lake. The first postmaster in Bray was named Thomas W. Bray, and the town was named in his honor. The town began its progress in the year 1909 and included a blacksmith, a general store, two teachers and a doctor. The town also started with some livestock and grain businesses, but by 1919 the area included a public school, a grist mill, a restaurant and a grocery store. Within a few more years, the Bray real estate area soon encompassed a small business district that included oil and gas harvesting and cotton production. To avoid potential annexation by the cities of Duncan and Marlow, owners of Bray homes requested incorporation of the town in 1977. Although the town has retained its rural character, Bray homes for sale lie within a country town that is uniquely larger than most major cities, and it includes an area of water and land covering 63 square miles.
