Marlow Oklahoma Homes and Community
Marlow, Oklahoma derived its name from an interesting historical tale and legend. Located less than 15 miles North of Duncan, Marlow derived its beginning as an early pioneering tent city. However, the Williamson Marlow family lived in the area until 1888, and Marlow Grove, as it was originally called, was named after them. The old Marlow home was a cave that is located on the Eastern banks of the Wild Horse Creek. The Creek is now the site of the gorgeous recreational area called Redbud Park. By 1892, the first railroad that arrived within the area marked the founding date of Marlow. Because many men in the area made their living by capturing stray cattle that were purposely driven through the area, the first businesses established near Marlow were holding pins and loading pins. Marlow homes and community became officially incorporated in 1898, and the cattle industry still makes up a major portion of the area's economy.
